The Manhattan Short Film Festival 21st - 28th
If you’re looking for a retreat from the wet and wild autumnal weather why not visit a Torquay cafe with a difference.
In the heart of Chelston, The Blue Walnut Café is a fully licensed café, live music venue and art gallery. Winner of the Torbay Arts Base Award in 2005 for Original Artistic Contribution to the Community, it was also voted 37th Best Cafe in Great Britain by the Independent newspaper.
The café has an original 25 seater Nickelodeon cinema and is gaining a local and national reputation for providing a diverse range of arts activities including live music events with internationally acclaimed musicians, guitar and song writing workshops, art classes, a regular book club and a monthly film programme.
As one of only three venues in the UK, the Blue Walnut Café will host the prestigious eleventh annual Manhattan Short Film Festival. The week long film festival aims to unite audiences around the world by inviting cinema lovers to vote for their favourite short film. The film festival takes place in over 150 cities across four continents from Sunday 21st to Sunday 28th September.
The Agatha Christie festival, commemorating the life and works of the queen of crime will also take place in September with a selection of films being shown in the cinema.
